Chattanooga

We took a little trip to Chattanooga this weekend. We went to ride Thomas (see below) but we did a lot of other stuff too. Chattanooga is a train town and Jack is a train-loving little boy so he thought it was great. We had a really nice time even though we were all completely exhausted by the end of the day.

Cinders and Ashes! Bubbling Boilers! It's Thomas the Train!

Our trip to Chattanooga was inspired by an event called "Day Out With Thomas" where train-loving little boys and girls get to take a ride on the real, live Thomas the Train. Jack has been following Thomas' route on the map in his room all the way from California for the past several weeks as the big T made his way to Chattanooga. When we got there, Thomas was just returning from taking some other lucky children on a ride and Jack saw him pull into the station. His head almost blew up. He started running toward Thomas yelling, "Thomas! Thomas! I'm so happy to see you!".

Mother's Day Weekend

We had a nice weekend. The weather was wonderful. We ate a lot--made homemade pizza, strawberry pie and had a cookout on Sunday. We also went to a new park where we discovered a boxcar and caboose. Forget about the slides and swings. We spent almost the whole time looking at the train cars from every possible angle.

The Garden

Once again we have set out to have a garden. We don't have a lot of luck with gardens but we just keep going back every year for more punishment. We don't have squirrels and deer this year but we do have rabbits and they are quite pesky. Jack and I dug the garden during the week and this was a task where he truly excelled. The boy just loves dirt. He loves to dig in it and put his trucks in it and wipe it all over his brother's face. As soon as we planted the garden on Sunday it started to rain and didn't stop until Tuesday afternoon. Our little plants were swimming but they survived.

Always hemmed up during the fun stuff
