Farm Party

Yesterday we went to a Farm Party held on the family farm of someone that David works with. There were many things there for Jack to love: chickens, tractors, cows, caterpillars, and s'mores. Emory enjoyed a nice long snooze in the country air.

Stupid Bubble Truck

No banana splits for Emory but he's still a happy boy

Gourmet Owensboro

An man never forgets his first banana split
We learned two lessons in parenting today: 1) Don't build up an event unless you are CERTAIN that it will happen 2) Ice cream fixes everything.
We planned this weekend on going to the Owensboro Pumpkin Festival which was supposed to feature the Bubble Truck. Jack loves trucks and he loves bubbles. He was SO excited. We had even been looking at pictures of the truck online, which is basically a tricked out pick up that blows bubbles all over the place. We get to the festival only to find out that the stupid Bubble Truck broke down in Louisville. Total heartbreak. So we ended up at the Wonder Whip for banana splits. Instant tear stopper.

Cartwheels

A weekend of hanging out with girls who love gymnastics inspired Jack to take a shot at cartwheels. He totally thinks he's doing it right.

Holiday World

We met David's brother and family at Holiday World on Saturday. Holiday World is a theme park in southern Indiana that specializes in just what you would think it would: holidays. They've got the Fourth of July (Emory's favorite), Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Halloween. Jack was too little for a lot of the rides (David was not. He rode all three roller coasters.) but he managed to get in quite a few. The Turkey Whirl was a bit much for him. Comet's Rockets was more his speed and he loved the Antique Cars and the Gobbler Getaway. He was also a big fan of the free soda stations (pop, they call it here). David and I got a taste of the future and what it's like to spend all day in the blazing hot sun while your kids get sticky and sunburned but have a blast. Holiday World is fun for all.

Trucks and More Trucks

Jack's obsession these days is with...trucks (surprise!). He loves them. Luckily the neighborhood we live in is partially under construction so every morning we go for a walk to watch the bulldozers, backhoes, dump trucks and excavators. I know nothing about trucks but I have to tell him a story about trucks before bed every night. I am learning.

Emory had his two month doctor's visit last week. He's a big boy, just like his brother, in the 95 percentile for height and the 75th for weight. He tries so hard to talk to us. He babbles and coos and his latest favorite trick is to blow spit bubbles. It may not sound like much but it's pretty darn cute.

The Move

The move from North Carolina to Kentucky went pretty smoothly. I took the boys to my mom's house and over the course of two weeks, we managed to see all of the grandparents. Of course, we didn't get pictures of everyone but we did at least see them. Most importantly, we got to meet Harper.

Kentucky

Dowtown (with stolen balloons courtesy of Jack)
With a lot of help from AnnMomma and Joe, we have most of the boxes unpacked. The boys haven't been bothered by the move. Jack spent his first night in the new house in his "big boy bed" and loves it. He also discovered the fire ants in the backyard and his little legs are covered in bites. Once again, this didn't bother him at all. It's a little different being in such a small town. (There isn't even an Old Navy here!) But the people are very nice and we're just happy to all be together again. The video is of Jack running up and down the hill in the backyard the first morning he woke up at the new house.

I never realized how exciting fire trucks are for little boys.

New Blog

This is the new home of Carter Fold. We're still moving in an getting settled here in Kentucky so it might be a couple of more days before we get it together enough to put some pictures up. The good news is that we have survived the move and have most of the boxes unpacked. The best part is that we are together and David no longer has to travel although I am sure there are times that the Hampton Inn is a bit more peaceful than here...
